大規模彫刻作品やインスタレーション作品を中心に20作家を展示

3月15日の開幕まで約1カ月となったアジア最大のアートフェア「アートバーゼル香港2015」(参加ギャラリーリストはこちら)。その中で、大規模彫刻作品やインスタレーション作品を中心に展示を行うエンカウンター(Encounter)部門の参加作家が明らかになった。

オーストラリア、中国、インド、インドネシア、マレーシア、ニュージーランド、シンガポール、韓国、ベルギー、ドイツ、ポルトガル、イギリスそしてアメリカから計20名の作家による作品群が展示。日本からは小山登美夫ギャラリーからシュシ・スライマンが、オオタファインアーツからはザイ・クーニンがそれぞれ参加する。

今回のエンカウンターをキュレーションするシドニーの現代美術施設・アートスペースシドニーのエグゼクティブディレクター、アレクシィー・グラス・カントワー(Alexie Glass-Kantor)はアートバーゼル香港を国際市場のエネルギーと思想が交錯して作られた「都市の中の都市」として想定。「そこにはそれぞれのセクションを編み繋ぐ明確なテーマがあります。視覚性とコンセプト、それぞれの糸は互いに織りあげられ、アートはどうやって見る者の体験を再現出来るのかを示し、観客を惹き付けてゆきます。多くの作品は見る者の世界の見方を変え、あるいは立ち戻らせてくれます。知識として「知っている」ことを表しているのではなく、本質的な感覚や想像力を表してくれるのです」とコメントを寄せている。
